Email address — used to create and manage your account.
Note content — everything you write in KitNotes. You own it; we store it so you can access it.
Conversation history — your chats with Kit, so the context is preserved across sessions.
Usage metadata — basic signals like page views and feature usage, used to understand how the product is working (not to profile you).
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to provide the service — full stop. Your notes power the AI features: we generate embeddings for search, send relevant context to Kit for chat responses, surface writing suggestions, and transcribe voice notes. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything beyond making KitNotes work for you.
AI Processing
To power features like chat, semantic search, suggestions, and voice transcription, your note content is sent to AI providers via their APIs. Here's what matters:
Your content is not used to train AI models. We use the API versions of these services, which have data processing agreements that prohibit training on customer data.
Content is sent only when a feature requires it — not in bulk, and not in the background without a reason.
We have data processing agreements in place with all AI providers we use.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small set of trusted services to run KitNotes:
Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Your notes live here.
Stripe — payment processing. We never see or store your full card number; Stripe handles that.
OpenAI — text embeddings (for semantic search) and voice transcription (Whisper).
OpenRouter — AI chat and analysis features (Kit conversations, suggestions).
Vercel — hosting the web app and basic request analytics.
Cookies
We use a single authentication session cookie to keep you logged in. That's it. No tracking cookies. No advertising cookies. No third-party analytics cookies.
Data Retention
Your notes are stored until you delete them.
Account data is retained while your account is active.
If you delete your account, all associated data is removed within 30 days.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time through the app settings. If you run into any trouble, email us at support@kitnotes.app and we'll handle it manually within a few days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make significant changes — anything that meaningfully affects how your data is used — we'll notify you through the app before the changes take effect.
